Very slack recently on the blog, however, the socials has grown since the last blog and I wanted to get back into the swing of things. I wanted to share my favourite pockets of peace that I incorporate somewhere either in my week or during the day. Like everyone, we all have our own little challenges/life adventures that consume the majority of our time and we often tend to neglect ourselves.
Recently, I have tried to get into a habit of focusing more on how to expand myself physically and mentally and it hasn't been easy. I made a promise at the start of the year to focus on what brings me joy and striving to be my most authentic self. These ways of finding my joy provide me with the tools to stay content and centered within the moment and leave me feeling positive about myself and the day that was a blessing to be apart of.
Unhealthy mind create unhealthy habits and moving my body was always done in a negative format. I have only just now limited my movement to what my body is in tune with that day. If my body feels like going to the gym and lifting some weights, I will channel in with that. If my body wants to do stretching exercises, than that's what I will do, even a simple walk in the neighborhood is enough for me to feel my best afterwards. Movement does not need to be intense or the strive for that 'body', it can just be a simple movement that takes your mind away from events that may be heavy on your shoulders.
2. SPEND SOLO TIME OUT AND ABOUT
What I mean by this is go spend sometime in your favourite coffee shop, grab a drink and go for a walk in the park, head down to the local library or even run those small errands like visiting the post box in an outfit that you adore. I find myself actually feeling so much better grabbing a coffee and heading down to the library to spend a few hours to myself studying and watching a Netflix series. I love the days off work where I can head into town with a nice outfit and run those minor jobs feeling like I am on top of the world. Truly, doing some solo time is not as bad as you think !!
3. NOURISH YOURSELF
For a long time now I have deprived myself of food especially sweet treats and never allowing myself to have anything as I considered it 'bad' for myself. Now I am getting into the habit of allowing myself to have a little treat after dinner and to be honest is the best way to end the night off with. A few small blocks of my Pico chocolate or a few cinnamon almonds with a cup of tea/coffee makes me feel warm and full of comfort before I head off. Finding your peace with food will allow yourself to enjoy what nourishes you, guilt free.
4. CONNECTING WITH YOURSELF
Like being in tune to your body with exercise, being in tune with your whole mind and body is crucial. Our body's are temples that will need maintenance or engines that need servicing. When our bodies start sending signals saying "please, give me a break, I need rest", listen to it. Pushing ourselves not only hurts us physically but affects us mentally and when our minds are not thriving, our body won't be either. It is so important that we take the time to understand how our body operates and pay attention to when we need to take the time to recharge to feel our best again.
5. FIND OUR RHYTHM
In today's world, we can be heavily influenced and judgmental ourselves and our perception on what life should look like because we saw that one influencer who looks like they have their shit together because they woke up at 5am, ran 5km, made a gourmet breakfast, drank a green juice and had a whole spa day all before 8am. Finding our rhythm means finding what brings your mood up and leaves you feeling ready for the day and continually fitting it into your everyday life.
I know moving my body, listening to music, doing some studying and cooking are my little rhythms that I do everyday to feel my best. It can be that simple and we will all have something different that we will do to feel our best.
We need to work at better knowing what we want personally, rather than doing what others are doing to fit in the perfect square box. These practices have the vibrations to improve your mental state and allow you to find your inner pockets of peace!
