Why Sourdough you may ask?


Not only is it one my absolute favourite breads but it is also holds many health benefits for our bodies. Sourdough has such an interesting flavor to it, with its signature sour bite, chewy texture and its crusty outside, this loaf brings a lot to the table. Sourdough sets itself apart from other popular breads like the wholemeal and white as it undergoes a fermentation process that gives it, its distinct flavor and its health benefits.



During the natural fermentation process, the enzymes in the gluten break down the starch into more smaller, digestible molecules which creates sugar molecules to help the yeasts and good bacteria aswell as producing carbon dioxide in the bread that becomes trapped within the bread, creating those little bubbles and airy textures in the bread.

The bread acts as a natural prebiotic that feeds the "good" gut bacteria within our intestines that promotes positive gut health and promotes a stabilized gut microbiota. This truly is a wonderful natural bread, that is gut healthy and is one not to miss, its a easy swap for the beloved white toast or the sandwich bread especially those supermarket breads that can be heavily commercially processed. You can most definitely make your own at home, however, it is a day process and in a society like today, we can always forget to prioritize our health when we don't have the time.
